Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many photos of my pet do you need and how do you get them?
One or two is plenty. Just make sure that they're clear and give a good example of what your pet looks like. If I feel the pictures aren't a clear representation of your pet, I will contact you and request a new picture. Also, I typically create my drawings to match the photo - so keep that in mind. I draw what I see, and it's basically the same as the photo image.
Upon purchase, I will send you an email verification (typically within 48 hours, but usually sooner) and you reply with an attached jpg image of the photo(s) you would like to use. Or, you can go ahead and mail them to me (after payment) at email@example.com or my personal email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I will also ask you what shelter you would like the 20% to go to. If not specified, it will go to SPCA Tampa Bay.
2) Is the artwork you create going to be like pet caricatures similar to ones done at an amusement park or fair?
It's nothing at all like that. I will be creating your pet in my illustration style with and not in the more caricature fashion. Please, review this website and notice my style to make sure that it's a fit for you before purchasing. Just know that my art will resemble what you see. I draw right off the photo you submit.
3) Who owns the rights to the image after it's completed?
I obtain the rights to all images. However, once you purchase an image, it is yours to do whatever you would like with it as long as it's for personal use (with exception to my logo design option). To make it simple - basically, you can't claim the artwork as "your own" (like you drew it), you can't license it, use it for promotions, etc. Your own mug or t-shirt or to hang up at home? Yes - that is what the art is for.
4) If I place and order and then want to cancel - can I?
Once the order is placed, typically the artwork begins right away so unfortunately there is no cancellation once an order is placed. The only exception is if there is a massive amount of orders to fill and I can not complete your order within 12 business days. If that happens, I will let you know how long it would take, and if it's beyond the amount of time you want to wait, I'll gladly refund your money.
5) Can I Make Special Request?
Of course! If there's anything you would like to request, I'll do my best to make it happen. Just ask!
6) What about drawing multiple pets in an image?
Not a problem! The prices for that are listed with each item.
7) Can You Draw Me an Advertisement Using My Pet?
I can definitely do that. However, that's a whole other category that relates to my illustration work, so I can send you a quote. The work I do here though on here does not relate to that except for the exemption of my logo design. A basic design price is listed in the SHOP area.
8) What does the original look like that you send me?
If you order the package that includes the original, keep in mind it's pretty simple. I draw your pet in pencil, and then use a dip pen and India ink to complete the final. So, your original is just a line drawing. However, it is still unique to see how it really comes to life after digital coloring and it's a great added bonus. There are some examples of the line work in the GALLERY section.
9)Where can I see your other work?
10) Your prices seem high. Why is that?
For this service, mine are actually relatively cheap compared to other illustration work. A spot illustration typically can run upwards of $300 or more, so keep that in mind. These aren't caricature drawings as well that you see in a theme park. I'm doing this also as a way to help shelters - but as a professional, I have to make a living as well, so I charge a fair amount for the services and I make sure it's worth it to customers. Keep a lookout for discounts and more that I'll feature here regularly. I also sometimes have giveaways. Most of them are on the Facebook page, so be sure to "like" it!
11.) How long does it take for you to complete each order?
Typically, I can have everything done within 12 business days (usually, it's much sooner). If there is high surge in sales or if I'm on a trip and it would take me longer than expected, I will let you know how long it will take and if it is too long of a wait, you'll have the option of getting a refund.
12.) Do you draw caricatures of people, too?
I can draw people's similarities, but I've never considered myself a caricature artist. I usually save drawing people for custom cartoons and my syndicated feature.
